Common questions before you write in
A holiday date looks wrong. What should I do?
Governments sometimes move holidays or add new ones at short notice, and official announcements always take precedence. Tell us the country, the holiday and, if you can, a link to an official source such as a government gazette or ministry announcement. We check every report.
A regional or local holiday is missing.
Regional holidays are listed in the “Regional and local holidays” section of each country page. Municipal holidays may be incomplete. If one is missing, send us the place, the date and an official source.
Why is a holiday marked “estimated”?
Some holidays depend on moon sighting or lunar calendars, such as Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha. The date can shift by a day or two until it is officially announced.
How do I add holidays to my calendar?
On a country page, use “Download calendar (.ics)” and open the file with your calendar app, or use the “Add to calendar” buttons on a holiday page for Google Calendar, Outlook or Apple Calendar.
Is the countdown in my time zone?
Yes. Countdowns and “today” use the date and time on your own device, so they are right wherever you are.
A translation is wrong or sounds odd.
