About Arrival Day
Arrival Day in Guyana marks the arrival of the first indentured labourers from India in 1838, who came to work on the sugar plantations of British Guiana. The day also recognises the other peoples who came to Guyana, including Portuguese and Chinese immigrants, and their contribution to the country's diverse society.
Traditions
