About EDSA People Power Revolution Anniversary

This day commemorates the People Power Revolution of February 1986, when large, largely peaceful crowds gathered on Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA) in Metro Manila. The demonstrations led to the end of Ferdinand Marcos's presidency and to Corazon Aquino taking office, and the anniversary is observed in the Philippines as a special holiday.

Traditions

Commemorative ceremonies are held at the People Power Monument and EDSA Shrine along the avenue.
