About All Saints' Day

All Saints' Day on 1 November is a Christian feast honouring all saints, known and unknown. In Western churches it has been celebrated on this date since the early Middle Ages. It is closely linked with All Souls' Day on 2 November, when the faithful departed are remembered, and in many countries the two days together form a period of remembrance.

Traditions

Many people attend church and visit cemeteries to clean and decorate the graves of relatives with flowers and candles. In some countries cemeteries are lit by large numbers of candles in the evening.
